Boy innocently flashes viewers as leader visits
A YOUNG boy who hid in the family wardrobe when Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang paid a visit to his modest home was caught by a CCTV camera sneaking out with only a shirt on and jumping back into bed.
The footage showed the vice premier on a recent visit to the homes of poor residents and migrant workers who had returned to their hometown village in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region for the Spring Festival.
As he was talking to the grandfather, the partially clothed boy, who appeared to be five or six years old, suddenly popped into view in the background, showing the side of his bare hips to millions of viewers of a prime-time evening CCTV newscast on Wednesday. The men in the foreground kept chatting.
The boy was having a nap when Li unexpectedly visited his home, according to a Weibo post by Liu Xiangnan, a reporter for Economic Observer, a newspaper based in Jinan, Shandong Province.
The boy hid in a closet beside the bed. But Li unexpectedly sat down to talk to his grandfather. After hiding inside for a while, the boy made his appearance.
The footage went viral on the Internet and drew favorable comments for the broadcaster, which didn't edit out the unexpected scene. "CCTV has changed! I hope it can continue this kind of documentary style of news reporting," one netizen said.
The boy's adorable behavior has made him into a web hit. "I couldn't help laughing! He's so cute," a netizen said. "Hey! Boy! Your hips are nationally known," another said.
