Boy killed after his neck was caught in power window when waiting for dad in car
AN eight-year-old boy who was left alone in his father’s car died after his neck got caught in the power window on the front passenger side in north China’s Liaoning Province, a local newspaper reported today.
The tragedy happened on Wednesday when the boy was waiting for his father, who left the car to do some work in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province.
When the father got back, he found the boy with his neck caught and a massive blood stain on the car window, the report said. The boy was pronounced dead at a hospital after doctors could not detect any sign of life.
The father blamed himself for giving the car keys to his son. The boy was being naughty when his father was occupied by the errands, so the father said he asked him to play downstairs. But the boy asked for the key and waited for the father in the car.
A similar case was reported last month in southwest China’s Sichuan Province where a 3-year-old girl died after her neck was caught in the skylight of her father’s car.
Power windows are often stronger than people suspect and can be very dangerous for unattended children.
