Boy killed in fight with father

A 13-year-old boy in northwestern China died after being tied up and beaten by his father for two hours after a fierce fight over the boy's poor academic performance.

The boy, identified as Xiao Hua, could not be saved on Wednesday despite four hours of emergency treatment in a hospital in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province, the Chinese Business View reported.

Xiao Hua was tied up and beaten by his father, Lu Wenrang, starting at 8am after his teacher talked to his mother about his poor academic performance, according to Xiao Hua's uncle, said the locally based newspaper.

Xiao Hua was left bound by rope in the yard at his home for another two hours. He wasn't sent to the hospital until he was found falling into a deep coma and having weak breath, the report said.

Blood stains, ropes, a 1-meter-long wooden stick, 2-meter-long rubble pipes and several bricks were found in the yard.

It came to a fight between Xiao Hua and his father after Xiao Hua hit his father's head with a brick, a neighbor who tried to intervene told the newspaper. Then the furious father tied Xiao Hua up and struck him ruthlessly.
