Boy run over four times

POLICE in the eastern Jiangsu Province have detained a driver who allegedly ran over a three-year-old boy four times, killing him in a hit-and-run accident.
The accident happened when the driver surnamed Wu reversed his BMW SUV and struck the boy who was playing 1 meter away behind the car on a house driveway in a residential complex in Xinyi County on Tuesday morning last week.
With the boy knocked down under the left rear wheel, Wu stopped for a moment but then sped up, running over the kid again, the scene captured by a surveillance camera.
Wu left the scene without calling police or taking the bloodstained boy to hospital. He was detained by police.
After investigation, police said Wu was not drunk or losing his mind.
The boy's father Li insisted the reckless suspect meant to kill his son by striking him back and forth so that he could pay a one-off compensation instead of covering the boy's long-time medical fee.
He said he would sue Wu for manslaughter.
