Boy stabs girl next door and drowns her in well
A junior high school student in east China's Anhui Province has been detained for stabbing a 10-year-old girl several times and drowning her in a well to death, Anhui Business News reported today.
Police in Chizhou City said Wu Cheng, 14, allegedly sneaked into his neighbor's home with a knife on Saturday morning when the girl identified as Xiaoyu was at home alone.
Xiaoyu's parents came home at noon and couldn't find her daughter. But they saw blood on the floor of their living room and her daughter's schoolbag. They traced the trail of blood to their backyard and found Xiaoyu's body in the well.
Police arrived and concluded that the girl was stabbed in the face three times before being thrown into the well where she drowned. An old woman living nearby said she heard the girl yelling for help.
Police detectives soon narrowed their search to the boy who was sitting astride a bicycle, waiting for the police like other villagers and whistling as if he had nothing to do with the killing.
Though the boy allegedly confessed to the murder, his motive was not revealed as investigation was ongoing, Chizhou police said.
