Britain warned to drop request for HK visit
CHINA has warned Britain that persistence over its request for lawmakers to visit Hong Kong would be equivalent to “lifting a rock only to drop on its own feet.”
Foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying was responding after Prime Minister David Cameron said a decision to refuse visas to members of a foreign office committee was “mistaken.”
Hua said: “These lawmakers are not attempting to enter China on a ‘friendly visit’ but rather for investigative purposes. We don’t need foreign politicians researching on Chinese territory.”
