Brothers bury wrong body as father

TWO brothers in southwest China's Sichuan Province were astonished to learn the body of the man they buried as their father was not their own dad.

They have now been asked to return the man's ashes to his daughters, today's Southwest Metropolis Daily reported.

An elderly man was killed in a traffic accident on November 9 last year in Dazhou City. Liu Zishuang, 31, and his brother said the body was that of their missing father.

Police took a blood sample before handing over the body to the brothers as well as 20,000 yuan (US$2,929) compensation from the truck owner for the fatal accident.

The brothers cremated the body the next day, but three days later, sisters surnamed Liu claimed the body. Police DNA tests established that he was their father, the report said.

The brothers have been also asked to return the compensation money.
