Building ‘Ice Silk Road’

CHINESE President Xi Jinping and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev met in Moscow yesterday on expanding cooperation and building an “Ice Silk Road.”
Russia is an important partner in the Belt and Road initiative, Xi said, and he urged Northern Sea Route cooperation to realize an “Ice Silk Road,” and implement various connectivity projects.
China and Russia should strengthen cooperation in economy and trade, investment and energy, implement major manufacturing projects, strengthen high-speed rail cooperation and push for an early start of the Moscow-Kazan high-speed railroad project, Xi said.
Cooperation should also grow in areas including education, culture, sports, tourism and media, he said.
