Building to be renovated
A building in east China's Jiangxi Province that once served as the field headquarters of Kuomintang leader Chiang Kai-shek will be renovated, according to the provincial library.
The European-style building in the provincial capital of Nanchang first served as a public library after completion in August 1930, but was soon taken over by the Kuomintang.
The building, a landmark in Nanchang, resumed its function as a library in 1935 and served the public until it was replaced by a new library built elsewhere in the city in 1995.
It was listed as a cultural relic under provincial protection in 2006, said Zhou Jianwen, curator of the provincial library. However the old building has been unused since 1995, causing it to fall into disrepair.
