Bumper day on the rail network
RAILWAY passenger numbers continued to rise yesterday as the weeklong Chinese Lunar New Year holiday draws to an end.
Some 10.6 million passenger trips were made on China’s railway network yesterday, up from 9.5 million trips on Monday and by 8.3 percent year on year, the China Railway Corp said, as more people will return from their hometowns.
The railway system added 914 trains to meet the travel demand yesterday, up from 636 additional trains on Monday.
