Burglary suspect seized in southwest China city

POLICE in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality detained a burglary suspect yesterday.
The suspected robbery, which took place in broad daylight last Friday, led to chaos in the city, with several downtown roads shut down and anti-riot officers dispatched to downtown Chongqing.
The suspect was caught in a residential compound in Chongqing's Yubei District at 6:50pm, said a spokesman from the municipal public security bureau.
He said the suspect is currently being interrogated. He did not reveal the suspects name.
The suspect broke into an office belonging to a car rental company near the city's Guanyinqiao pedestrian street in Jiangbei District at 2:20pm Friday.
A local resident surnamed Zhou said that the suspect took him for 5,000 yuan (US$781). Zhou called the police, who then cordoned off the street and began looking for the suspect.
All major roads leading to the city center were locked down, with police checking every passing vehicle. Witnesses claimed the suspect fled in a gray car and provided the license plate number for the car.
