Bus company apologizes for kiss
A bus company in Hangzhou apologized yesterday after one of its drivers allegedly kissed his girlfriend while driving, leaving all the passengers onboard shocked, Xinhua News Agency reported yesterday.
Passengers riding the bus No. 333 said they saw a woman talking with the driver along the route at about 9:40pm on Sunday, during the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival.
But the two suddenly started kissing when the bus was stationary at a red light.
The driver who shared his seat with the woman, even put his hand on her leg, wrote a passenger surnamed Zhang on a Weibo.com microblog.
"The kiss really shocked me," said another passenger surnamed Wang. "All the passengers onboard saw it, some of whom even averted their eyes in shame. That behavior was endangering public safety," she added.
The bus company confirmed that it was aware of the incident, but explained the girlfriend of the driver had asked permission to spend the Mid-autumn Festival onboard the bus.
The Mid-autumn Festival is an occasion for family reunion, but some drivers have to work and fulfill their duty of keeping the transportation system running.
