Bus crash kills tourist in Phuket
ONE Chinese tourist was killed and about 30 others were injured in a bus accident in Phuket, Thailand, a Chinese diplomat said yesterday.
The bus carrying 26 Chinese tourists from Chongqing lost control and veered off the road yesterday morning, said Wu Xiufeng, a diplomat with the Chinese consulate in Phuket.
Of those injured, two were seriously hurt, she added.
Also yesterday, eight people were killed and many injured in a pile-up of more than 30 vehicles in Tianjin yesterday morning.
The accident happened at around 6am at Rongcheng-Wuhai Expressway, said the police, who are investigating the accident.
In Anhui Province, a head-on collision between a truck and a van yesterday left two people dead and nine others injured, rescuers said.
Most of the victims were in the van. Both vehicles were severely damaged.
