Bus passengers hit by wall while getting off

A WALL surrounding a hotel being demolished in Yunnan provincial capital Kunming collapsed yesterday morning, burying a bus and two passengers as they were getting off.

A man and a woman were pulled out of the rubble by rescuers, local Website Yunnan.cn reported yesterday.

The woman, seriously injured, was sent to a nearby hospital immediately.

Part of the 7-meter-high wall at the Yunnan Hotel in downtown Kunming collapsed at about 10:55am as the bus pulled up to a bus stop.

Witnesses said the wall collapsed like a peeling wave accompanied by a large sound. Dust clouded Dongfeng Road alongside the wall and paralyzed traffic.

The man's leg was injured and he took out his mobile phone to take pictures as evidence, the report said.

The woman lay motionless with her face covered in blood and was later found to have a fractured right arm.

Part of the road was open to traffic about an hour later.
