Buses linking south Xinjiang, Kyrgyzstan to resume
TWO regular cross-border bus services linking China's Xinjiang with Kyrgyzstan will resume operations next March as regional economic integration deepens.
One bus will run between Kashgar and Jalal-Abad, and another will run between Artux and Osh, transport authorities of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region said Sunday.
The four cities are important posts in the "Silk Road Economic Belt" that China is actively promoting.
According to the Xinjiang Transport Department, the Artux-Osh route will mainly serve traders, while the Kashgar-Jalal-Abad will mainly transport laborers from Kashgar to Jalal-Abad, which has highly developed agricultural industries.
The two services were launched more than a decade ago, but they were later reduced to seasonal operations due to a shortage of passengers.
