Bus-train collision leaves 5 dead, over 30 injured
FIVE people have died and more than 30 were injured after a bus crashed into a moving train in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, this morning. Most of the passengers on the bus were students.
The bus lost control, broke the guardrail and collided with the passenger train at 9:07am, Xinhua reported today.
Initial investigation showed five people had been killed in the accident, Wang Mingshan, director of Urumqi Public Security Bureau, said at the site.
About 30 wounded people were sent to Xinjiang Armed Police Hospital and some were sent to other hospitals.
The train was pulled away from the scene at around 10am.
