Bus-truck collision kills 8, injures 35 in Anhui
A bus-truck collision on a highway section in east China's Anhui Province has left eight dead and 35 injured, local police said today.
The truck coming from Jiangsu Province derailed across the highway isolation strip to a lane in the opposite direction after a sudden tyre burst, and hit head-on with a double-deck passenger bus from Henan Province yesterday afternoon, according to the public security bureau in Chuzhou, Anhui.
Police said the bus had more than 40 passengers on board. Both drivers on the truck and the bus died in the accident. The injured were in hospital.
