CCTV anchorman Luo Jing dies of cancer


FAMED China Central Television news anchorman Luo Jing died at 7:05 this morning in Beijing from lymphoma cancer, CCTV announced on its Website. Luo was aged 48.

Luo had suspended work to receive treatment after being diagnosed with cancer in September.

He confirmed he had cancer in mid September after receiving surgery. He then said he planned to resume work in two or three months.

Luo's last public appearance on TV was on August 31 on CCTV's News Broadcast, the nation's most popular news program.

Luo had been working for the program after he graduated in 1983 as a broadcasting major from the former Beijing Broadcast Institute, now the Communication University of China.
