CCTV producer investigated
A PRODUCER for the business channel of China Central Television who is related to Ling Jihua, the senior Party official currently being probed for corruption, is herself now under investigation, thepaper.cn reported yesterday.
Media executive Luo Fanghua is the wife of Ling’s brother-in-law Gu Yuanxu.
Gu, who also once worked at CCTV, was removed from his post as deputy public security chief of northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province after Ling’s fall from grace, caixin.com reported last month.
A graft probe was announced against Ling, vice chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference National Committee, in December.
He was previously head of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, but was demoted in 2012 after being thrust into the media spotlight when his son Ling Gu was killed after crashing his Ferrari sports car.
An investigation into Ling’s brother, Ling Zhengce, a former vice president of the CPPCC in north China’s Shanxi Province, on suspicion of “serious discipline and law violations” was announced last June.
A total of eight senior directors, producers and anchors from CCTV’s business channel have been questioned over alleged bribery in the past year.
They include director Guo Zhenxi, vice director Li Yong, producer and financial manager Wang Shijie, business journalist Rui Chenggang and anchor Li Ping.
