CPC expels former E. China official
CPC expels former E. China official Yang Zhenchao, former vice governor of east China's Anhui Province, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC), a statement said on Tuesday.
Yang "violated political discipline and resisted a Party investigation," said the statement from the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).
Yang violated the Party frugality code by accepting banquet invitations and used public money to cover private expenses. He did not report his personal affairs to authorities according to rules, lied to investigators, took advantage of his position to seek benefits for others and accepted bribes in staff selection and promotions.
Yang embezzled public property, sought profits for others and accepted bribes in return for business operations. He abused his power to cause "a great loss of state assets."
"Yang violated the Party code of conduct in a serious manner," said the statement.
The CPC Central Committee has approved his expulsion from the Party and his office. Yang's illegal gains should be confiscated and the case should be transferred to the judiciary.
Yang has been under investigation since May.
