THE Second Session of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country's top political advisory body, will open in Beijing this afternoon and last nine days, said CPPCC session's spokesman Zhao Qizheng.
Jia Qinglin, chairman of CPPCC National Committee, will report on the work of the Standing Committee in the past year, while Vice-Chairwoman Zhang Rongming will report how members' proposals have been handled since the last session.
Committee members are expected to discuss Premier Wen Jiabao's report on government work.
