Canadians Fever Free
China yesterday defended its quarantine of 25 Canadian students in Changchun, capital of the northeastern Jilin Province, saying it complied with the law and the Canadians had agreed to it.
The students began a seven-day quarantine period at a hotel on Saturday when they arrived, the same day that Canada confirmed 51 cases of swine flu, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said. Canada had recorded at least 140 cases of the disease as of yesterday, the third-highest figure following Mexico and the United States.
None of the students showed any signs of illness, and they were satisfied with the situation, Ma said.
