Car thieves arrested over attack on officer

Three men who allegedly attacked a police officer and took his gun were arrested in Tongcheng City, Anhui Province, yesterday while they were sleeping, China National Radio reported.
The three, Xu Meng, Xu Kunming, and Xu Haifeng were caught in Taihu County, Tongcheng. The three were car thieves, according to the report, citing the city's police.
Another suspect, Zheng Xiaolei, was also arrested. He is suspected of working with the others to steal cars.
It was the third case of attacks on police in the province this year.
On May 12, suspects rammed into a police vehicle with a stolen car and killed two officers.
On June 17, a driver involved in a traffic accident dispute cut a policeman in the arm with a machete.
All the attackers in the two cases were arrested, the report said.
