Cash escort shot dead by accident in Chengdu
A cash delivery guard accidentally shot himself to death this morning while taking money from a bank in Chengdu, the capital of western Sichuan Province, local media said.
It was unclear why his shotgun was loaded and unlocked. Police are investigating the incident.
"His colleagues said he shot himself," said a witness in the building at 60 Hongxing Road where the accident happened.
Three guards, including the victim surnamed Tan, were taking cash out of a safe in a Bank of China office on the second floor when a gun shot was fired at about 8:30am and Tan's head was found blown off, leaving a pool of blood on the floor.
The Chengdu Security Service Company, Tan's employer, could not be reached for explanation.
