Changing phones is a must for many
MOST people (71.8 percent) buy new mobile phones every two years or less, according to a survey, while some (16.8 percent) change their handsets every 12 months.
And almost half of those questioned in the China Youth Daily survey said they would upgrade even if there are no problems with their current model.
More than 60 percent of the 2,004 people questioned said the brand was a major element when choosing a phone.
About 82.4 percent said smartphones had become an indispensable gadget in their daily lives, while they also relied heavily on laptops, desktop computers and tablets.
About 63 percent of respondents said they would consider buying a new mobile phone if their old one had problems, while 42 percent said they might swap old for new even though their old phone was still working well.
More than 32 percent said they would buy the latest model from their favorite brand.
While choosing a mobile phone, brand is the first element for most consumers, with other considerations being price, processor and camera performance, the survey found.
A total of 59.9 percent of respondents said smartphones and other digital products had made their lives more convenient.
However, 30.6 percent blamed them for what they said were the negative effects of their heavy reliance on such devices.
The newspaper said that 51.6 percent of the people it surveyed were born in the 1980s, 21.1 percent in the 1990s and 19.6 percent in the 1970s.
