Charity In Profit Scandal

AN eye treatment device promoted in a Red Cross youth eye caring program was sold to the public for more than three times the wholesale price to bring in profits, in the latest scandal surrounding the humanitarian charity.

The device, which is the only authorized product in the Youth Eye Caring Campaign initiated by Red Cross Society of China's Business System, retails for 2,850 yuan (US$441) while franchisees can buy the product for just 800 yuan, Daily Sunshine reported yesterday.
