Chemical leak disrupts traffic
A CHEMICAL leak on the East Sixth Ring Road in Beijing last night has caused massive traffic congestion in the area, China National Radio reported today.
A truck transporting chlorosulfonic acid from Baoding City, Hebei Province, was found leaking on the road at 11:45pm and 80 firefighters in 13 fire engines rushed to the site to deal with it.
Chlorosulfonic is a strong acid which can cause damage to the skin and respiratory system. Some firefighters were slightly affected during the clean-up.
Traffic along the road from north to south has been stopped and is expected to return to normal this afternoon, according to the report.
