Chen Zhenggao appointed minister of housing, urban-rural development

China's top legislature on Friday approved the appointment of Chen Zhenggao as head of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, replacing Jiang Weixin.

Chen served as governor of northeast China's Liaoning Province from January 2008 and he became head of the ministry's Leading Party Members' Group earlier this year.

Chen, born in 1952, is a native of Liaoning's Haicheng city and joined the Communist Party of China in 1972.

Chen's predecessor Jiang Weixin, 65, was minister since 2008.
