Chief engineer in 'violations' investigation
THE chief engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is under investigation for serious disciplinary violations, officials confirmed yesterday.
Su Jinsheng was taken away recently by the Commission for Discipline Inspection, and hasn't showed up for work since, the publicity department of MIIT told Sina.com. No other details were given.
Su may be implicated in the corruption case involving China Mobile Ltd, the country's biggest telecommunication carrier, an unnamed insider said, according to Caing.com.
Su's last public appearance was on March 11 this year when he visited the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China.
The investigation into alleged economic violations by Li Hua, former general manager of China Mobile's Sichuan unit, has achieved notable results, officials claimed. As the case hasn't entered the prosecution stage, auditing is continuing, Caing.com reported.
Li was investigated last June for alleged money issues. Investigations into Li, who has been in his post for more than 10 years, began after the arrest of Li Xiangdong, an official in charge of China Mobile Sichuan's music ringtone business.
Li Xiangdong was arrested going abroad with a large sum of money.
China Mobile refused to say whether the cases of Li Hua and Li Xiangdong were related.
