Child porn publications targeted in crackdown
CHINESE authorities yesterday published details of seven cases uncovered during a crackdown on online pornography and piracy designed to protect minors.
In February, the National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications launched a campaign against the production, sale and distribution of illegal publications and online content that could affect juveniles.
In one case, police in Xuzhou, a city in east China’s Jiangsu Province, shut down a child pornography website that used cloud storage services to provide more than 15,000 videos and 31,000 pictures to 7,771 registered members.
In another case in Huangshi in central China’s Hubei Province, a man surnamed Hong was arrested and more than 16,000 copies of unlicensed publications intended for students confiscated.
Hong sold publications valued at 5 million yuan (US$747,686) since 2011.
