Child prostitute trial will not be public

A TRIAL involving a child prostitution ring in south-west China will not now be open to the public.
Three of the 11 victims are under the age of 14 and the other eight are under 18, the Xishui County People's Court in Guizhou Province has said.
The trial on Wednesday involves Yuan Li, an unemployed woman who provided her apartment as a brothel and looked for clients, and a young couple who forced the school girls into prostitution. One of the arrested is an adult prostitute, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.
Ten of the 17 accused will not stand trial but will receive administrative punishments, as they were not involved in sexual activities with the girls, the court said. They dealt with the adult prostitute.
The seven to go on trial include five government officials, a vocational school teacher and a taxi driver. They will probably be jailed for more than five years, according to Chinese law, the court said.
One of the government officials is legislator Mu Mingzhong. The county's committee of Chinese People's Congress has revoked Mu's qualification for CPC membership, the government said.
The other officials involved are Li Shouming, who was in charge of the county migration office, land and resources official Chen Mengran, social security official Huang Yongliang and legal affairs official Chen Cun.
The county's education authority has suspended paying accused teacher, Feng Zhiyang, and has launched a campaign to boost moral education for teachers.
