China Mobile senior executive probed by prosecutors
A deputy general manager of China Mobile, the world's largest mobile network operator in number of subscribers, is under criminal investigation by prosecutors of Jilin Province in northeast China.
The fact that Lu Xiangdong was not probed by the Party's top disciplinary authorities but handled directly by Jilin prosecutors indicates his corruption evidences are conclusive, Caixin.com cited insiders as saying.
China Mobile said it is still investigating the case, the report said.
Lu worked as director of Fujian Provincial Bureau of Wireless Telecommunications and deputy director of the Mobile Communications Bureau of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications before joining China Mobile in 2000.
He is among several high-ranking officials of China Mobile to fall into disgrace. Another deputy general manager, Zhang Chunjiang, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve last July for taking 7.46 million yuan in bribes.
