China Opposes New Sanctions
CHINA is against imposing new sanctions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea because of its recent rocket launch, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said yesterday.
UN Security Council action "should be conducive to safeguarding peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, conducive to the six-party talks and the process of a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula, and also conducive to safeguarding the international non-proliferation regime," Jiang said.
