China continues storm alert

CHINA'S meteorological authority today continued a blue alert, the lowest level in its four-tier warning system, for heavy rain in some southern regions.
From now to tomorrow morning, heavy rain or storms will hit some areas in provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangdong, Hainan and Fujian, as well as Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Tibet Autonomous Region, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said in a statement.
Torrential rain from 100 to 120 millimeters will be seen in some of the above-mentioned regions, the center said.
The NMC cautioned that local governments should take emergency measures against storms, cut off outdoor power supply in dangerous regions and prevent potential disasters, including mountain floods and landslides.
China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
