China enhances protection of marine rights
China has sent marine surveillance ships to enhance law enforcement activities in relevant Chinese waters to safeguard its marine rights and interests, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said in Beijing today.
Jiang made the comment when asked to confirm whether China's marine surveillance ships have recently demanded Japan stop marine surveying activities in relevant waters and China's fishery administration ships have enhanced law enforcement activities in those areas.
"Relevant Chinese departments have also sent fishery administration ships to China's territorial waters concerned to provide protection to Chinese fishermen," Jiang said.
Media reports said that China has transported some materials to Chunxiao oil and gas field in the East China Sea and is likely to carry out maintenance operation there.
When asked to confirm the news, Jiang said, "China processes full sovereign and jurisdictional rights to the Chunxiao oil and gas field and China's activities in Chunxiao is completely under both reason and law."
