China envoy visits DPRK: FM

WU Dawei, China's special representative for Korean Peninsula affairs, visited the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) from August16-18, Chinese Foreign Ministry said today.

Wu exchanged views with the DPRK side on maintaining peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and on restarting the six-party talks, a press release from the ministry said.

During the visit, Wu met with DPRK's Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun, and Kim Yong-il, director of the International Affairs Department of the Central Committee of Workers' Party of Korea. Wu also held talks with DPRK's Vice Foreign Ministers Kim Kye-gwan and Kim Song Gi.

The six-party talks over the DPRK's nuclear issues, involves China, the United States, the Republic of Korea, the DPRK, Japan and Russia. It was launched in 2003 but stalled in April 2009.
