China finds 311 batches of bad imported food
Chinese authorities found more than 300 batches of illegal imported food in August of 2013, the country's top quality supervisor said in Beijing today.
Most problems were in labels, additives and quality of the food, which came from 31 countries and regions, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).
The rejected food covered 17 categories, most of which are aquatic products, alcohol and dairy products, said AQSIQ's deputy director Li Benjun.
The AQSIQ also uncovered 15 batches of substandard cosmetic products imported from seven countries and regions.
All the products were either sent back or destroyed, Li said.
