China regrets announcement and calls for calm
CHINA said yesterday it regretted North Korea's announcement that it would restart a nuclear reactor to feed its atomic weapons program, appealing for calm on the Korean Peninsula.
At a regular press briefing, foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said: "We have noted the remarks ... and express our regrets."
He added: "We are calling on all parties concerned to keep calm, exercise restraint and return to dialogues as soon as possible."
