China renews alert for heavy rain
CHINA'S meteorological authority today continued a blue alert, the lowest level in its four-tier warning system, for heavy rain for a fourth day in a row.
From now to tomorrow morning, rainstorms from 30 to 70 millimeters will hit some regions in provinces of Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Shandong and Jilin, as well as Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said in a statement.
Torrential rain from 100 to 120 millimeters will be seen in the southeastern part of Guangdong, the statement said.
The NMC cautioned that local governments should take emergency measures against storms, cut off outdoor power supply in dangerous regions and prevent potential disasters, including mountain floods and landslides.
The center first issued the blue alert on Thursday. China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
