China to decelerate bullet trains to ensure safety
China's high-speed trains are expected to slow down very soon for safety reason after the July 23 train crash killed 40 people.
Train schedules across the country will be adjusted once the Ministry of Railways lowers the bullet train speed from 300 to 350 kilometers per hour to 200 to 250 kph, insiders said.
The country's fast-expanding railway system is put under scrutiny after the fatal train collision in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province last month.
This morning, a bullet train from Shanghai to Beijing was delayed for nearly an hour due to an unspecified equipment failure in the city's Hongqiao Railway Station.
Train G14 was scheduled to leave at 10am but it did not depart until 10:50am, passengers said.
