China to tighten public security
THE Ministry of Public Security will make more efforts to tighten public security and take decisive measures to deal with serious violent criminals.
The ministry said that it will carry out armed patrols and take timely measures to handle violent criminals.
The ministry urged public security organs at all levels to increase work efficiency and further improve the emergency command mechanism in order to fight crime.
Public security organs should also enhance prevention and control over densely populated places, including stations, docks, airports, schools, hospitals, busy streets and travel resorts. Police should be ready to answer people's requests for help in handling emergencies.
According to the ministry, Beijing police will continue tightened public patrols after the "two sessions" that concluded on Thursday -- the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
The ministry will also reinforce public security in sections of key cities, such as Shanghai, Changsha, Kunming, Urumqi and Lhasa, in order to effectively prevent and crack down on criminal activities.
