China's Buffett sued by wife for divorce, asset split
AN investment guru dubbed China's Warren Buffett has been sued by his wife for divorce and half of their family assets worth more than 2 billion yuan (US$316,706).
-Zhao Bingxian, chairman of China Capital Investment Co Ltd, is accused by his wife Lu Juan of having extramarital affairs and abusing her and their children, Beijing Times reports today.
Lu is seeking a divorce, an equal split of their family assets estimated at over 2 billion yuan, and full custody of their daughter and son, the report says.
The high-profile divorce case was heard several times by courts in Beijing's Haidian and Chaoyang districts from July 2010 to August 2011, but Zhao never showed up for a hearing, citing sickness and business trips and forcing Lu to withdraw the suit.
Lu brought the lawsuit to the city's Tongzhou District People's Court and it has not been accepted yet.
Since Lu took the legal action, she has been repeatedly threatened and harassed by people who claimed to be police officers, Lu told the newspaper. Her safe in a bank was also frozen. She lodged complaints with higher authorities but hasn't got any response.
Lu is worried that as the divorce case drags on, Zhao is transferring the family assets elsewhere under his sole name.
