China's armed forces report more swine flu cases

THE number of swine flu cases in the People's Liberation Army (PLA) have obviously increased since this autumn with 51 outbreaks having been reported as of December 2, according to a report from the Ministry of National Defense.

In a recent case, several hundred people in one unit had been affected. The outbreaks made the control and prevention task more difficult, the report on the ministry's website quoted the PLA General Logistics Department's health chief Zhang Yanling as saying.

The Chinese mainland saw a faster increase of deaths from the swine flu in the past weeks, according to the Ministry of Health. Among 200 deaths from the Swine flu, 194 were reported last month.

About 89.3 percent of all the flu cases reported last month were of the H1N1 Influenza A strain, up 12.4 percent from the previous month, the health ministry said yesterday.

As of Monday, nearly 27 million people nationwide had been inoculated with China-made H1N1 Influenza A vaccine, according to the ministry.
