Chinese, Japanese ministers to meet
CHINA'S Defense Minister Liang Guanglie and his Japanese counterpart Toshimi Kitazawa will meet today in Hanoi, the Kyodo news agency said yesterday.
Liang and Kitazawa will hold talks on the sidelines of a regional gathering of defense ministers in the Vietnamese capital, Kyodo said.
It will be the first ministerial level meeting since China suspended high-level exchanges with Japan in response to the detention of the captain and crew of a Chinese fishing boat that had collided with Japanese Coast Guard ships off China's Diaoyu Islands last month.
Meanwhile, the last of four Japanese employees of a construction firm who had been held for illegally entering a military zone in northern China's Hebei Province flew home yesterday after his release.
Fujita employee Sadamu Takahashi told a news conference in Tokyo he has been investigated in China because he videotaped the military zone, although that had not been his intention.
He was released on bail on Saturday after paying 50,000 yuan (US$7,495), Kyodo said.
The other three Fujita employees were released on September 30.
