Chinese flight delayed by hoax terror threat
A FLIGHT bound for the northwest Chinese city of Dunhuang was delayed yesterday due to a terror threat.
China Express Airlines flight G52689 postponed its takeoff at Zhongchuan Airport in Lanzhou, capital of Gansu Province, after receiving a terror threat that was later found to be a hoax, local authorities said. The plane was scheduled to take off at 12:55pm but remained on the ground until 2:17pm as authorities verified the threat and carried out checks of the aircraft. A person has been detained in relation to the incident, police said. They did not elaborate.
