CHINESE leaders, together with representatives from all walks of life, have presented floral tributes at the Monument to the People’s Heroes in Tian'anmen Square.

Today’s ceremony was presided over by Guo Jinlong, the Party Secretary of Beijing Municipality. National leaders, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang attended the tribute ceremony.

They were joined by some 3,000 representatives of veterans, martyrs’ families and all walks of lives. China’s top legislature last month approved September 30th as Martyrs’ Day to commemorate those who lost their lives fighting for national independence and prosperity. The date is one day before China’s National Day.
