Chinese mainland won't interfere in Taiwan election: spokesperson
A spokesperson on Friday reiterated that Chinese mainland will not get involved in Taiwan's leadership election in 2016, saying the principle will apply to the issue of inviting Taiwan representatives to attend World War II events in the mainland.
Fan Liqing, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks when asked about whether the mainland will still invite James Soong Chu-yu to attend the WWII memorial events on Sept. 3 after Soong announced his run for the Taiwan leader 2016 election on Thursday.
Soong currently is the chairman of Taiwan's People First Party.
