Chinese people growing taller
CHINESE people are getting taller, according to the National Health and Family Planning Commission survey.
Men were 1.67 meters tall in 2012 on average, with women 1.55 meters, both improvements over 2002.
The survey also noted significant increases in height and weight for children.
Urban boys in the 6-17 age group were 2.3 centimeters taller and 3.6 kilograms heavier during the 2002-2012 period, and girls 1.8 centimeters taller and 2.1 kilograms heavier compared to the previous survey in 2002.
Rural boys were 4.1 centimeters taller and 4.7 kilograms heavier, with girls 3.5 centimeters taller and 3.4 kilograms heavier.
