During his two-day visit, Xi held talks with Malaysian leaders, exchanging views on a host of regional and international issues and charting the course for the future development of China-Malaysia ties.

The leaders also witnessed the signing of a series of mutually beneficial pacts.

Xi and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak agreed to upgrade bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership and agreed on a target to boost bilateral trade to US$160 billion by 2017.

Malaysia's English-language newspaper New Straits Times said in a front-page report today that the agreements inked during Xi's visit opened "a new chapter" in bilateral ties.
