Chinese rate earthquake and food safety top risks
EARTHQUAKE and food safety are two biggest concerns for Chinese people, an insurance company said in a new report.
Cancer, drunk driving and unsafe water supply are the next three worries, said a global risk evaluation report released by UK-based RSA Insurance Group in Shanghai yesterday.
The report, based on a survey conducted by The Future Company, focused on five major risks facing people today. Overall, regional and personal issues draw more concerns than global risks, such as climate change and terrorist attack, People's Daily cited the report on its website today.
Respondents worldwide regard high living cost, cancer, speeding, drunk driving and climate change the top five concerns.
Most Chinese tend to account on government help when faced with a crisis, the report said.
The survey was conducted right after the Yushu earthquake in Qinghai Province in April. That is probably why many Chinese listed earthquake as the top risk, said Richard Schofield, director of strategy, marketing and affinity of RSA.
A risk index can help us identify what make people worried most and what measures they will take when faced with a risk. This is crucial to an insurance company, said Greg Otterson, CEO of RSA China.
The research interviewed more than 7,000 people in seven countries.
